When is the best time to schedule maternity photos?
Most maternity sessions take place between 28 and 36 weeks. For a first pregnancy, I often recommend around 32–34 weeks. Your belly is beautifully defined at that point, while you are usually still comfortable enough to move around and enjoy the session.
When should I book my maternity photography session?
I recommend reaching out during your second trimester if possible, especially if you are hoping for a weekend date or a particular season such as fall. My calendar can fill several weeks or months in advance.
Do you offer studio and outdoor maternity sessions?
Yes. You can choose a simple studio maternity session in my natural-light Black Mountain studio or an outdoor session somewhere around Asheville and Western North Carolina. Outdoor sessions are beautiful if you love mountain views, fields, foliage, or golden evening light.
Can my partner and children be included in maternity photos?
Definitely. While we’ll make sure to capture plenty of images celebrating you and your pregnancy, your partner and children are always welcome to participate. This is a chapter in your whole family’s story.
Do you offer more intimate or boudoir-inspired maternity sessions?
Yes. My studio works beautifully for simple, intimate maternity portraits. We can create a session that feels feminine, confident, tasteful, and true to your personality without relying on elaborate sets or props.
What happens if the weather is bad for an outdoor maternity session?
Western North Carolina weather likes to keep us guessing! If rain or unsafe weather is expected, we can reschedule your outdoor session or, when appropriate, decide together whether we want to embrace a little bit of weather.
Can I book maternity and newborn photos together?
Yes! I offer maternity and newborn options that allow families to document both seasons, and bundling sessions can also save you money. It is a wonderful way to tell the full story from anticipation to those first tiny newborn days.
