FAQs
YOU HAVE QUESTIONS? I HAVE THE ANSWERS.
When should I book my newborn photography session?
I recommend booking your newborn session after your 20-week ultrasound, if possible. This gives us plenty of time to reserve space around your due date. If your baby is already here, don’t panic — reach out as soon as you can and I’ll do my best to fit you in.
When do newborn photos usually take place?
Newborn sessions typically take place within the first two weeks after birth, when babies are still extra sleepy and curled up. That said, every baby is different, and beautiful newborn photos can absolutely be created outside of that window too.
Do you offer studio and in-home newborn sessions?
Yes! I offer both studio newborn photography and lifestyle newborn sessions in your home. My natural-light studio is located in Black Mountain, just outside Asheville, and is perfect for clean, simple, timeless images. In-home sessions are wonderful if you want to document this season in the place where your family is settling in together.
What is the difference between a studio newborn session and an in-home lifestyle session?
Studio sessions tend to include more wrapped and gently posed images of your baby, along with relaxed family photos in a bright, neutral setting. Lifestyle sessions are more documentary in feel and focus on snuggling, feeding, connection, and your family interacting naturally at home. Both options include photos of your baby with parents and siblings.
Do I need to bring anything to my newborn session?
Very little! I provide wraps, newborn outfits, blankets, bonnets, tiebacks, tasteful props, diapers, wipes, and many wardrobe options for moms and siblings. My studio also has a bottle warmer, snacks, coffee, and tea. You are always welcome to bring anything sentimental you would like photographed as well.
Are parents and siblings included in newborn photos?
Absolutely. Family photos are an important part of every newborn session I photograph. Your baby will never be this tiny in your arms again, and I want you to have photographs that capture not only your new little one, but the connection between all of you.
What if my baby cries or needs to eat during the session?
That is completely expected. My newborn sessions are baby-led, so there is plenty of time for feeding, changing, soothing, and snuggling. There is no pressure for your baby to perform or follow a strict schedule.
